We are excited that Edison is hosting a Science Night this month. We asked Melissa Mendoza, 4th grade parent and driving force behind the night, to share a few details.
What is Science Night?
On Friday, September 26 from 5pm to 7pm, Edison has invited science experts and enthusiasts to share their passion, giving student and parents the chance to explore science based activities and learn how science translates into careers, hobbies and everyday life.
Yes, K through 8 students and parents are welcome.
What kinds of activities will there be?
It promises to be a fun and fascinating night. We will have live animals, interactive experiments, engineering demonstrations and more. Some of our presenters and their specialties include; Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Adler Planetarium, Mad Science, Society of Women Engineers, Chicago Science & Surplus, nanotechnology, medical and earth sciences.
I am a science enthusiast. How can I help?
We will need parent volunteers to setup, breakdown and assist presenters throughout the night.
I am a science expert. How can I help?
We are still looking for experts in the fields of geological, physical, chemical and medical science to participate in Science Night. Each presenter will have an area of the cafeteria to share their expertise by activity or presentation.
